bar end paint wear (2017 bike)
« on: September 04, 2017, 05:25:23 PM »
Has anyone had any issues with the paint wearing off of the bar end weights ??

On Both sides, the paint on the bar end weights has rubbed away and im down to bare metal (left worse than right) Its not a pretty sight.

I've covered less than 3k Miles and would not expect this sort of ware on a bike that's so low in mileage and 7 months old.

Mine is a 2017 and has just under 3k on the clock.  Just checked mine on reading your comment and mine look as new as the day I bought it.  I think I would be taking it back to the dealer, cause that doesn't sound right.

Is where you are holding the bars towards the bar ends and rubbing with your gloves?  :187:

It is,  but I can't move my hands in any further as they are butted up against the inner of the grips. I wouldn't have said my hands aren't  that large (size 9 gloves "lrg")  and I've not had paint wear on a any other bike within 7 months and less than 3k miles like this.

My cheap gun metal blue anodised  bar ends in the suzuki were still good after almost 2years till there were signs of wear.

I've got the same problem on my 2016. Had it since new. Took about 1 month before I saw the metal part of the bar ends.

Also on the dubious quality side, the right handgrip rubber has cracked open. They're telling me they're not sure they can put in a warranty request for that. I'm quickly beginning to lose my patience on this issue.

How is your warranty claim going?

I've not contacted them as yet, if it's going to be a re occurring issue down to paint quality I may just get some aftermarket ends and save the haste, but I'll have a chat to the dealer first. I've got Oxford grips so shouldn't have the grip issue your having.
