Anyone had PR4 and Roadtec 01
« on: September 08, 2017, 05:35:55 PM »
My Diablo Rosso III's are knackered and the bike feels horrible to ride at the moment so it's time to invest in a new set of boots. With autumn and winter weather on the way I've been fancying some roadtec 01 but they're abour £260 at the moment and I can get some PR4's for about £230 with £30 back. Are the roadtec's £60 better than the PR4's? I've had PR4's in the past and thought they were a good all round option but never had the roadtecs so in a bit of a dilemma.

Will be going up to Leeds Bike Tyres in the morning with my lose wheels so need to sleep on it and decide in the morning. Any feedback greatly appreciated.

TIA

I've had both. They're both good tyres. 2 sets of the Michelins, including 3 rears, as I tried out the 55 profile.
RP4s are much more confidence inspiring in the wet, but for EVERYTHING else, I'll take the Metzelers, so much so I already have a second pair ready to fit when these are done!   :028:

Just my opinion mind  :031:

Thanks MDR, the PR4's did feel good in the wet but it's mainly dry weekend riding that I do with the exception of 2 or 3 tours each year when you can get all sorts of conditions. Might just have to try the roadtecs then.

I w as planning to try a set of the Roadtec 01s.  But my tyre place was quoting £298 for a pair fitted to loose wheels.  Whereas the PR4s (which have always been a premium price tyre) are £240 with a £30 voucher as well.  I'd like to try the Roadtecs but not that badly.

Hi Burty,

I paid £258 fitted to loose wheels. Haven't tried them yet but they're on the bike ready to go.

Just got back from a 130 mile scrub in. I really like the feel of the Roadtec, they're slower to turn in than the Diablo III but feel much more planted and grip levels felt very good.  :028:

At that price I would have tried a pair.  But my tyre dealer couldn't quote a better price and I wasn't going to be hunting around for a deal anywhere else.  Bizarrely good motorcycle tyre suppliers are in short supply around here.

Essentially the PR4s were £80 cheaper, and I know they do the job well.

Out of interest there is supposed to be a PR5 coming out later this year.
