Thinking of a change?
« on: August 13, 2017, 11:51:40 AM »
On my second SX a 16 model. Thought it would be with me for a good few years but I fancy something different but not sure what?

I do love the SX but never really got use to the revvy engine after having the VFR 1200. The 16 model somehow has more vibes than my 13 model, so I want something that is a bit smoother without losing too much power. The lack of a centre stand is also a pain at times.

Im not prepared to pay for a multistrada but I'm leaning towards an adventure type of bike with loads of storage.  Possibilities would be the Honda VFR 1200x, the versys 1000, triumph explorer but not sure. Ive not test ridden any yet. Any ideas? Cheers

Phil - have a go on a BMW S1000XR - or the KTM 1290 GT - they are both stunningly brilliant - just pricey though.

My views (for what they are worth) on the XR are here:

Hi Steve. Good write up that I recall reading at the time. I would love the BMW but just cant justify spending that sort of money for the milage i do. Maybe if I win the lotto!

If I was to consider a BMW it would be the RS, not the XR personally. I still found the XR buzzy and high revving. The RS is very nice, but again pricey!

With all the problems 2 of my friends have with their Multistradas I wouldn't even consider one!!  :004:
Lead times just to get work done is ridiculous!  :006:

Less buzz is easily fixed on the SX with alternative sprockets, but I'm guessing your simply ready to move on  :027:

The Versys does appear great value and all the reviews are good. Ive just sat on one & it feels very comfortable. The salemen said it was his favourite bike.

If I had a likely customer - that's what I would say too.    :018: :018: :018:

i have changed and bought a multistrada 950 and think that it is a great bike. having said that I did like the sx but you know what it is like whenever you get itchy feet. You should take each bike out for a good test ride.
