on: 28 Jun 11, 05:34:01
i managed to scrape 3,750 out of the factory fitted bt016's  :005: they have squared off to the point that the bike doesn't feel right.it was a choice between dunlop ROADSMARTS or BRIDGESTONE 023's  :087: after a little homework i've decided to get the 023's fitted.i shopped around & managed to get the pair fitted for £231 TOTAL.booked in for saturday.I HOPE TO GET ATLEAST 5K OUT OF A SET OF TYRES.

My factory fitted Bridgestone 016 rear tyre worn off at the centre after around 6000km and lots of motorway rides.

Plan to replace the rear tyre with the same specs this time around. 023 touring tyres, front and back would be next...

My rear tyre is buggered after 3800 miles as well as being punctured in the middle of France, but plenty of life left in the front. So I have replaced the rear only with a 023. Feels fine but only managed about 30 miles between showers yesterday so no where near scrubbed in yet.
The only motorbike tyre supplier and fitter near me in Macclesfield (as far as I am aware) was National Tyres and they now will not supply due to too tight margins therefore not worth the effort. However they still have the fitting equipment and will fit them for a small charge. I searched the internet and best I could come up with was Crossan Motorcycles in Northern Ireland. For the 023 they charged £121 and free delivery whereas most others were around £130 plus delivery.

I had a set of Conti Road Attack 2's today. Not cheap at $520 fitted so I hope they work well. I got just on 6500 km out of the OEM BT016's but they were squared off and knacked. Well past the used by date.

I did have my made up on a set of PR3's but Lew's recent post on a recorded failure in the USA in high ambient temperates changed that. I'm yet to find a second issue of the same nature with them so I guess it was a one off.

I've still got originals on but there's plenty tread left on them after 3500 miles.  I can't wait to get them changed I've picked up two puntures in the rear.   I'm guessing this is because there so soft

Changed my original set at 3600 miles / 5800 km. Now the same BT016, new Pro version.

hi all, new here, but just sharing my tyre experience. I have ditched the factory fitted bt016's and moved to a Pilot Pure front (120/70) and PR3 (190/55). This combination works well for me, and always has (well, years gone past Pilot Power and PR2 .... you get my drift). By default in the UK do you get 190/55 fitted to the rear ? if not do yourself a favour and make the switch (or at least do the research) ..... its a whole new bike that turns much easier ! I would be keen to hear about anyone else's feedback on rear tyres also.  :410:
